Pro Tools Audio to Midi-using MidiPipe

Post by tmtmtm »

Hey all, I hope this is helpful. I didn't see this anywhere, so my apologies if this was posted somewhere else.

I was successful in generating Audio to Midi in Pro Tools 7.3 and Drumagog V4, Mac OS 10.4.11 using an app called MidiPipe.
MidiPipe is freeware available at
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10541
I just fired midipipe up, created a new pipe, set midipipe's input to "MidiPipe Input 1"and the output to "MidiPipe Output 1"and dragged the input and output from the MidiPipe's left column to the right column. Went back to PT and set Drumagog's midi output to "MidiPipe Input 1". I used Midi Monitor, another great freeware app
http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/
Saw that Drumagog was indeed transmitting midi. Fantastic!
I set a Pro Tools midi track input to "MidiPipe Output 1", and the midi showed right up, no problem at all. really dead easy. After all the other things that I tried I was shocked that it just worked!

I used Drumagog's live triggering mode and the latency was nominal.

I'll be interested if anyone else finds that this works for them as well.

cheers,

thom

I do the same thing in DP5.. it's slick! Teri posted this as an answer to my MIDI problem a while back in the DP5/MIDI/DFHS thread :)
