Using Drumagog MIDI Out with Pro Tools Mac

Post by Rim »

I've identified an issue with IAC on some Mac Pro Tools configurations. If you're having trouble getting MIDI out to work in Pro Tools on the Mac using IAC, please follow these instructions:

There's a shareware program called MIDI Pipe which works well with Drumagog, and does the same thing as IAC (and more).

1. Download MIDI Pipe here: http://homepage.mac.com/nicowald/SubtleSoft/
2. Install
3. Launch Midi Pipe, then drag an input and and output from the left window to the right window. The right window should now have only two things in it: "MIDI In" and MIDI Out". Make sure they are in that order (in first, then out).
4. Important: Leave MIDI Pipe open - don't close it.
5. You should now be able to use MIDI Pipe as a bus instead of IAC to route Drumagog MIDI to something else.

NOTE: Midi Pipe labels it's ports backwards. (Input should be called output and vice-versa). In other words, in Drumagog's midi port box, you should select "MIDI Input", even though it's an output technically.
