Can I use Steven Slate Platinum with Drumagog?
Can I use Steven Slate Platinum with Drumagog?
I have Steven Slate Platinum and am loving what it can do. Problem is I don't really use midi and only record real drums. I have seen people use EZ drummer and drumagog before. Can I do the same thing with the 2? How does it work too? I don't own drum agog on my mac (yet) but will in the near future and have the expectation of doing that. I have not been able to find anything on this really.

Hey BlackBox,
You can use the Midi Out to plugin feature of drumagog to trigger the SSDSampler drum of your choice, with an instance of drumagog and SSD for each track you want to replace/suplement. Basically drumagog will send the midi note of your choice to SSD which will then play the appropriate sample at the appropriate time. You can fade between drumagog's output (including the original track if you like) and the SSD sample.
Here's a screenshot of what it looks like in my DAW (Cubase)

Thanks Will.
Presumably the same setup applies to both BFD2 and BFD3 as well?

Hi neilwilkes,
Yep, you can use this configuration with any VST sampler, and the process will be pretty similar. I've also used it with Halion, as well as various synths, so it doesn't even have to be a "drum" sound you trigger with it.

Re: Can I use Steven Slate Platinum with Drumagog?
I recently upgraded to Platinum for this feature specifically and I am getting an error that reads 'This plugin is not a virtual instrument." See attached. I saw another thread about 64-bit issues on PC, so I uninstalled Cubase 6.5, Drumagog 5.0 Platinum and Steven Slate Drums 4.0 Platinum and reinstalled them all making sure all were 64-bit installations and I am having the same problem. I am going to try to bounce my tracks to MIDI and run through SSD, but I do not want to switch to trigger. Please don't make me switch to trigger. I have been a Drumagoger since 2004...but they have a Terry Date collection...so you know...i cheated a teeny bit. Anyway, please help! I'm working on a project and this feature would be killer. Thanks.

I am getting exactly the same problem as stinkfatz posted above too.
"This plugin is not a virtual instrument" when trying to use SSD 4.

Re: Can I use Steven Slate Platinum with Drumagog?
Hello,
There is a bug that is currently effecting SSD and Addictive Drums in the 64bit PC environment.
In the meantime you can use the MIDI out of Drumagog 5 as a workaround for the issues you are having with plugin hosting.
-insert Drumagog 5 as normal on your audio track. In the Settings tab click to turn on MIDI out.
-on a new MIDI or instrument track insert your drum software. Turn on MIDI in and set it to the same channel that Drumagog 5 is outputting.
-now Drumagog should trigger your drum software just like it would with plugin hosting.
