drumagog and e-drums

Post by cporro »

very quickly. home recording enthusiast and mediocre drummer trying to get great drums sounds with human performance.

for sounds i'm pretty sold on BFD and for a while all i had considered was triggering from an e-kit. but then someone suggested drumagog. i've know about it for years but hadn't considered it.

so now i wonder what can trigger a more realistic performance. miced a-drums (just started experimenting with the drumagog demo and my miced kit) into drumagog, or some form on e-kit triggers (triggers on my a-kit, or a full on e-kit), or my original thinking...something like an alesis usb pro with bfd.

one thing i like having is some midi data. i could be wrong about this but it seems midi data is easier to manipulate then audio. eg, quantize a certain percent. now drumagog won't write midi. right? but perhaps i could play an e-kit and trigger it laying down the data to a midi track at the same time.

i guess i'm trying to get at a discussion of the drumagog model vs e-kit and vsti.

anyone whose tried a few things out want to comment? thx
