DEVELOPERS: Suggestion on dynamic handling of samples

Post by Ben »

Hello,

I like Drumagog very much and the replacing works very well. But there's
one thing that I find to be very annoying and time consuming, and I also
have a suggestion how this problem could be solved.

Example: I want the hard snare hits to be very consistent, so I adjust the
dynamic tracking to maybe 30%. But of course I don't want the soft
hits and rolls to be as loud as the hard hits.
But exactly this is what
happens when turning dynamic tracking down. Because of this I have to
trigger first the hard hits and then separately the softer hits, which is too
pedantic of course, and I know that other users do it the same way.

A simple solution to this problem could be to implement a level control for
the dynamic groups in the samples tab. This way you could turn the
dynamic tracking down, so that the playing is consistent, but the rolls etc.
would be played at their natural volume instead of the same volume as the
hard hits, what sounds very unnatural and strange.

What do you think of this idea?

Best Regards

Sticking with the 'pedantic' theme...

I cut up the track (snare as an example) and insert a Drumagog per track - as many as I need. Yes it can get tedious.

I then fire the drummer for making life so difficult.

When I use BFD, as my sounds, I'll tweak the input sensitivity.

Yes.

Sure, if you have a really good drummer, his playing is consistent on its own, so you can leave the dynamic tracking at 100%. But I think one main reason for many users to use drumagog or hardware triggers is to make inconsistent playing of a drummer that I cannot fire consistent.

This is a great idea, it's already on the list.
