I use PT LE and the way you just described (fixed latency and nudge the track) is the way I have always used version 4. I continue using 5 the same way.

Don't know if it's related but I'm getting chronic running out of cpu errors with PT8.04 on W7x64. No similar problems with beta 3 or when going back to D4 on thje same track(s). This is an i7 cpu, btw.

I'm assuming it's looking for a license on an ilok and if not found prompts for the challenge/response. Mine never prompted, but I have an ilok license. Might you have a valid beta license on an attached ilok?
