Just mark all folders by the File Sharing and "Save..." e.g. to the desktop.
It's tricky to use "Add Folder..." to transfer it back to an iPad. The default is "Add File...", to get the option "Add Folder..." you need to hold down the Shift-key. I might be mistaken, perhaps it's the Ctrl-key, at least you need to hold down some key to switch from "Add File..." to "Add Folder...".
I never tested if drag and drop is supported.

Yes the show stopper could be unlocking the iPad in first place
That’s my worry
My kids have school Mac laptops so I can borrow theirs
Yes I am sure apples little genius are maybe not so
Oh dear I will manually save my auria stuff in future
