Revisiting Percussion Software
Revisiting Percussion Software
With the current and previous problems with DM1, I'm wondering about other drumming/percussion software. I want something a bit more stable.
I really don't care a whole lot about sequencing for now. I like to play with the pads, because, well, I like to play. The Drumperfect site says there may be unacceptable latency doing that with their software.
I want more percussion than various drumsets. Lots of percussion would be great.
I absolutely have to have pads.
I'd like to easily be able to assemble my own kits out of the various instruments included.
it would be nice to easily acquire more instruments. Perfectly willing to pay, just be nice to have them accessible.
I like Audiobus, because I like the fact the transport seems to show up in both the source and target software all the time. Inter App Audio, it's not guaranteed, and starting the recording process, them having to flip over and find the app, is a pain. But having both would be good.
Any more suggestions? Drumperfect sounds okay, but I'm a bit worried about the potential latency.

Beat-Machine. Do you know this app? Cheap at least, powerful though

It's cool, but not a lot of percussion in there. But for 1.99, not bad at all. Seems a bit CPU heavy.

Interesting thought. It's just so damned big. I might have to move buying the new ipad up in the list of things to do.
Re: Revisiting Percussion Software
Drum jam is pretty good for percussion, with more sounds for purchase. The pads aren't full screen, though. They may be fine for you. Definitely worth taking a look. If you like using pads, you should get a pad controller like Korg padKontrol or similar, then you can control most any drum app via MIDI.

That's a thought too. I did pick up Drumjam, and I'm liking it. I'm way more interested in percussion, and percussion it has.
I'll have to check out the pads.

Any app that allows you to easily import samples can be used with the infinite number of one shot percussion samples available on the internet for free and fee. Use the app with the UI that feels most comfortable to you. EasyBeats 3, FunkBox, DrumsXD, NoisePad, BeatMachine, iMPC, and iMPC Pro all have different UI's with varying levels of ease importing samples. AudioShare or AudioCopy make the job a snap in most of them.

The drummer in my band bought them to trigger his ipad, they are total crap AND a complete toy, don't bother. we couldn't get them to map to anything, even through midi bridge. But they are basically plastic and every pad often triggers when you hit one pad. He sent them back the next day.sodium wrote:Absolutely have to have pads?
