One last point (for the moment…) that comes to my mind is the handling of the Zoom slider. The difficulty here is that i never know at what position i'm zooming in. What about the idea using the cursor position as the reference point for zooming in (and out) so that the cursor always stays in the middle of the edit screen when using the slider? In combination with the extended options for snapping i suggested in my last post we would gain very accurate control options for zooming in specified areas (locators, region start / end, selection start / end, markers…) because now the cursor can be moved to different events very easily and precisely before zooming (for example to fine tune loop boundaries).
slider zoom in reference point
Re: slider zoom in reference point
That's already been done in 1.08. The zoom slider now zooms around the cursor position.
