Hi dubhausdisco, just wanted to say I finally got around to buying the AKAI EiE. When the guy in the store handed it to me the first impression was "Wow, this is a solid piece of kit!"
I had brought my iPad with me and we checked that everything worked. Now I am getting familiar with it at home. I must say I love the headphone/monitoring setup - very useable.
Thanks for your advice at the start of the month
Phil.

You are very welcome!
I've recently hooked up my old Ashly compressors to the inserts... Lots of fun!

I bought the Akai EIE (NOT PRO) because of this thread.
It was on sale at Guitar Center's website for $136 as of Feb 20, 2013.
It works without a powered USB hub.
Very nice build quality, not a toy.

Got my EIE!! Seems great, can't wait to get stuck right into it... Does anyone know if there is a way to use a USB microphone with it?? I have a yeti blue which works great and would be awesome if it can be connected. Is there such thing as a USB to Xlr adapter or is there another way around it?

I don't think the Yeti needs an interface, just a powered hub and camera connection kit.

Matt,
You cannot use a USB mic with the EIE.
Even if you could, the yeti has a fixed sample rate of 48khz,
and the EIE is fixed at 44.1khz.

Hello fellow auriaers your encouraging words
on performance of the EIE have put me of a mind
to aquire one for my modest needs. I assume it doesn't
ship with a cable so my question based on study of
the backside photo(enlarged) would be is the output
connecter next to the usb icon a standard B?
Do you need an adapter or special cable to get
into the cckit? I'm pretty new to computers of
any kind- thanks so much to everyone sharing
their knowledge/experience jp
