triggering Drumagog with a TD-20

Post by jbishop »

Hello Everyone,

This many be basic for some of you guys, but could anyone help me out with triggering Drumagog and/or BFD on my laptop with my TD-20.

Also, I'm interested in stacking sounds from the td-20 with sounds from Drumagog and/or BFD from my laptop. One of the problems it that Roland has decided to only let the td-20 transmit midi data if the local midi is off. so unless I'm dot doing something right, you havew to turn off the internal sounds to send midi data.

I've done this double trigging many years ago with explosive results. I thought i might try to Y td-20 pads into a triggering module (roland or Alexis) to stack the sounds. would this work? All that aside, I would like to at least get the td-20 working drumagog using my td-20 as the triggering source.

I tried it with the td-20 via midi w BFD and had some success. But, the midi info seemed to be lacking. not much sensitivity and not as real feeling as the td-20.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

jbishop

Out-of-the-box, BFD won't 'react' as you've discovered. You'll need to dig into BFD and 'tweak' the sensitivity curves. The hihat settings are rather deep.

You might have better luck over at the BFD forum. I think there is a sub-forum for electronic pads' interfacing and all sorts of their particular issues.
