Controlling Latency

Post by davetron5000 »

I just downloaded the demo and did some playing around, triggering Reason from Drumagog from PT LE on my Mac. If I solo the drums being replaced, it sounds good, however in the entire mix, there is noticable latency.

What is the accepted way to control this? Should I bounce each track to disk and then nudge back in place, or is there some way to automatically compensate for this? The latency slider in the plugin itself didn't seem to have much effect, so I think it is all the MIDI and Rewire which is introducing it.

PT LE doesn't automatically compensate for latency. Drumagog however maintains a fairly consistent value of delay, which is also displayed in milliseconds on the MAIN tab.
What I normally do in LE is..
-route the audiotrack's output with DG on to an internal bus. Set up a new track to record from that same bus. After the pass you can visually pull up the newly recorded DG track to maintain sync with the original.

good luck,
cheers
