Do I need to separate the drum loops to use drumagog?

Post by wonmad »

This could be a real stupid question so some of you might laugh at this. I'm a basically home recording musician so I usually work with a lot of drum loops. Bu sometimes there are grooves I like but specific sound is not really my type, such as snares, kicks, etc.
I always think it might be good if i can swap those sounds with something new. Do I need separate the drum loops to indovidual tracks of kicks, snares, etc to let the drumagog do the job?
It doesnt work with entire drum kit tracks, does it?

While Drumagog is designed to be used on separate tracks (kick, snare, etc), it can be used on a stereo mix. Here's how to do it:

1. Make two copies of the track.
2. Put Drumagog on both copies.
3. Set the first Drumagog's trigger filter to "lowpass"
4. Set the second Drumagog's trigger filter to "hipass"
5. You'll need to play with the filter settings to get it right, but the idea is to get the first Drumagog to only trigger on the kick drums and the second on the snare. It's not perfect, but it can often get you good results.

Great! That's quite a tip!
That helps a lot and exactly the answer I'm looking for.
Thanks, Rim!
