D5, Windows 7 and crashing problems

Post by neilwilkes »

This is an odd one, and it is the first time I have experienced this issue.
I am trying to load an old, saved project that was originally mixed in Nuendo 5.5.5 on Windows XP/32.
All was fine.
Trying to run up the same project in a Windows 7 system, and it crashes on me.
The 64-bit host crashes out with a VSTBridge error, telling me I do not have enough memory (I have 32Gb) and the 32-bit version crashes out telling me it just won't work because Drumagog has encountered an unspecified error.
I am copying the project across to the old setup to see if I can make it work from there - and if I can I will print the D5 track.

Problem still remains - how can I get this opened in the new system please?

Have you tried using a third party bridger like jBridge? The demo is free, the program itself is quite affordable. I'm a SONAR user and had issues with their vst bridge application crashing Drumagog. Switching to jBridge fixed that.

Appreciate the tip - although in all honesty, it is weirder than that.
Even though the saved NPR file will not load (one instance of D5 crashes it out) I managed to open the project on the old 32-bit system & removed D5 from the project and re-saved. The project then opened up fine on the new DAW (in both 64 and 32-bit versions) and I was able to recreate the Drumagog patch - now it loads with no memory errors.

JBridge is a place I would really rather not go to - I have a total of perhaps 2 dozen bridged plugins in all, and am reducing these numbers as fast as I can. Bridging is after all a cobble and the only real fix will be a 64-bit version of D5 so here's hoping it happens soon.

I appreciate the workaround suggestion though - thank you
