Protools crashes when trying to automate articulation

Post by locosound »

Access violation occurs and crashes when trying to use automation with articulation. Any suggestions?

We are sorry about the trouble, and thanks for bringing this to our attention.

What is your exact OS and version of Pro Tools? Any other details about what exactly happens will be greatly helpful. Such as: Does it happen immediately? Can you use it for a while? Are you able to click OK on the error message and continue to operate?

Cheers,
Jack

Win 7, I7core, 64bit, 16g Ram, Protools HD 8.04

I can automate any of the settings with no issues except the Articulation. Specifically using the high hats (Sabian13hat.gog). Once I enable automation, the access violation screen pops up when I try to adjust the settings. In most cases I can disable the automation and continue working without a crash, however there have been instances where Protools completely closes without any warning.

Thanks for the updated information.

So does the error message appear when you go record enable automation for the track? Or when you add Articulations to the automation list?

I can add articulation in the automation list with no problem, the error occurs only when I switch from the waveform view to the fx articulation view to add breakpoints, immediately the access violation screen appears. Here are some of the codes the error is giving me:

{access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0xC2E8E37C at address: 0x6DDD18A8 in module:...} the first set of numbers are always different.

The error screen only goes away when I remove the articultion fx from the automation list

Thanks for the detailed info.

We've forwarded this onto our developers to take a deeper look into this. If there turns out to be a bug in the situation, they'll look into posting a new update with a fix.
