Splash screen then crash

Post by misterpablo »

VoiceBand doesn't start at all for me

I have a 3GS with OS 3.1.2 and all it does is show the splash screen then crash back to the Springboard.

Any ideas?

I assume this is the full version (not the lite version), correct? If so, can you _please_ do me a favor and send me the crash report? This will really help me to fix this asap, so I can post a new version. Here's how to do it.

First, sync your device with your computer. When you sync, it automatically copies any crash reports onto your computer.

Then, find the crash reports on your computer:

For a Mac, they are located here:
Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>

For a PC, here:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/<DEVICE_NAME>
Windows Vista: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>

Just look for the ones called "VoiceBand"

Please email them to me: rim@drumagog.com

Thanks!

It is the full version, yes, but even though I found the directory you describe and saw some crash reports there were no crash reports for VoiceBand

That's strange... If it goes back to the springboard, it should report a crash.

Some things to check:

First, make sure you sync your phone first. You won't see the new crash reports until it syncs completely.
Also, make sure you're looking at the correct user account in Documents and Settings and the correct device name in Crash Reporter. Sometimes you may have more than one of each...

Thanks,

I've definitely sync'd and I've only got one user account and one iphone

I'm browsing the filesystem of the iphone with iPhone Explorer. Is there something that I can remove then maybe try re-installing VoiceBand?

I'm not sure why you're not getting any crash reports. I will look into this further on my end.

Re: Splash screen then crash — same problem

Post by Gabby »

I'm having the exact same experience as misterpablo with Voice Band— full version— crashing right after the splash screen.

However, I have a first gen iPhone— 4GB, and I thought THAT might have been the problem.

Voice Band Lite DID work for me (btw, what happened to that? I wanted to reload it to compare to the upgrade).

Like misterpablo I'm going to have to look for those crash logs Rim mentioned.

Weird.

Adendum

"I have a first gen iPhone— 4GB" —running version 3.0, if that matters at all.
