Voice Band currently does not support external mics, but you can use it with a headset, like this:

Just make sure the headset has a Mic.

I just bought Voice Band on my ipod touch, and it doesn't appear to recognize that my bluetooth headset has a mic. It keeps saying "please plug in a headset (with a microphone) to use voice band."

And... I just attempted the ipod touch's default voice memo app, which also does not think there is any mic plugged in. Do you happen to know if the ipod touch supports bluetooth headset mics at all? (I can listen to sound from the ipod touch through my headset's earphones just fine.) Do you have any tips for getting it to see my headset's mic? D: I know the mic works with my cell phone...

Edit: Never mind. It appears that ipod touch does not support the microphone part of bluetooth headsets in general. For example, there are other people speculating about the non-support of the mics here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=715906
Maybe someday =( I guess I'm going to have to run out and purchase a wired headset just to use this app x_X

can confirm that monster isonitalk microphone adapter works with voice band

update - actually it is variable sometimes works sometimes doesn't!

Actually it would be great if Voice Band worked with an adapter like this http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/smarttalk.

I hate using the Apple Stereo Headset with buds.
